Rachel McCabe
Rachel graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2025 with an MChem degree in chemistry with drug discovery. For her Masters project she worked under the supervision of Dr Catherine Weetman in the area of main group chemistry, designing multidentate ligand systems for aluminium complexes. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Rachel also completed a year in industry, working within the process development department of Veranova, Edinburgh. Her industrial placement focussed on process optimisation for the large-scale manufacture of API’s. Rachel moved to Heriot-Watt University and joined the Donnelly group in 2025. Her PhD is focussed on polymer backbone modification, aiming to apply catalytic methodologies to generate materials from commodity polymers that possess new functionalities.
