Joe Walker

​Joe completed his PhD in 2025 at Heriot-Watt university and has joined the Donnelly group in 2026 as a postdoctoral research associate. Under the supervision of Ruaraidh McIntosh and Stephen Mansell, his PhD work focused on the development of heteroleptic NHC-tethered fluorenyl ligand complexes of rare-earth metals for polymerisation of sustainable monomers. Previously, Joe obtained an MSc in Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology from the University of York as well as a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield. His PDRA research will investigate the composition of by-products from the whisky distillery industry in collaboration with Celtic Renewables, a local biorefinery enterprise.
