Máire Griffin

Máire completed her undergraduate chemistry degree in University College Dublin. Her final year project investigated the development of novel ruthenium catalysts for enantioselective Diels-Alder cycloadditions in the group of Dr. Andrew Phillips. In 2021, she moved to St. Andrews to undertake her PhD under the supervision of Professor Eli Zysman-Colman. Her doctoral research largely focused on the development of novel iridium photocatalysts to drive advances in organic transformations. Following this, in 2025, Máire stayed on in the Zysman-Colman group as a post-doctoral researcher, continuing her research on photoactive iridium complexes for photocatalysis and as luminescent materials.

In 2026, Máire joined the Donnelly research group in Heriot-Watt University. Her research focuses on the digital discovery of Zr complexes for novel catalytic applications and is funded by the EPSRC UK Catalysis Hub. Outside of research, Máire enjoys running, hiking and reading.
